MapSherpa Data License Information

The maps displayed in this MapSherpa application are created from data provided by the Natural Resources Canada and the U.S. Census Bureau. The raw data provided from these sources have been processed and represented in their current form by DM Solutions Group. Each data source has its own licensing agreement, as described below.

National Atlas of Canada base map layers.
The National Atlas of Canada provides base map data for Canada at various scales at no charge. Data from this source used in these maps include roads, cities and towns, rivers and lakes, provincial and federal boundaries, parks and urban areas. Data at 1:7,500,000, 1:2,000,000 and 1:1,000,000 scales are used.

National Topographic Data Base (NTDB)
National Topographic Data Base data is a Canada-wide map data set usually seen on printed topographic maps at two scales, 1:250,000 and 1:50,000. These data are provided by Natural Resources Canada in a digital format using the Open GIS Consortium (http://www.opengis.org/) Web Map Server specification. NTDB map layers represented in these maps are roads, railways, water bodies, vegetated areas, urban areas and elevation contours.

TIGER Data Files
TIGER (Topologically Integrated Geographic Encoding and Referencing system) data are provided free of charge by the U.S. Census Bureau. These data are used for coverage in the United States of America and include roads, railways, water bodies, vegetated areas, urban areas, towns and cities, and political boundaries.
